Howdy mates!
Our city are sorrounded by mountains and volcanoes, that's why it's known as Mexico Valley.
Some of those volcanoes and the most known are Popocatepetl and iztaccihuatl wich are the tallest of our city outskirts.
Popocatepelt volcano remains active, and some days, you can watch in the news a spokesman saying about activity on it. He can talk about fumaroles, ashes breathing out or in some rare situations, lava spreading along volcano skirts. Popocatepelt is also known as "Don Goyo".
Iztaccihuatl volcanp unlike Popocatepelt is inactive and from faraway, looks like sleeping woman, that is why is also known as "Mujer Dormida".
On winter, volcanoes collect snow over his peaks and if you are lucky and weather is clear, you can watch this spectacular event from Mexico City. I was lucky the last week and I could watch them and take them some shots with my camera. Isn´t common to watch the volcanoes, because pollution is too dense and doesn't let us admire those nature wonders daily.

Popocatepetl was a fearless warrior wich was in love of a beautiful princess called "Iztaccihuatl". She was the most beautiful sheila on the region and was elected for sacrifice. However, Popocatepetl loved her and he could not allow the sacrifice. On a distraction moment from the guards, PoPocatepetl ran with she away from the main palace, when an arrow hurts the young princess throwing her down to the floor, the warrior take her on his arms and continued running away to the woods.
When they were safe, he laid her on the lawn and promised to take care of her forever.
Time has passed and he is still waiting for the young princess to awakens from his eternal dream.

Nuestra ciudad esta rodeada por montañas y volcanes, es por eso que la conocemos como Valle de Mexico.
Algunos de los volcanes de los que hablamos y los mas conocidos son El "Popocatpetl" y el "Iztaccihuatl", los cuales son los mas altos en las afueras de la ciudad.
El volcán Popocatpetl permanece activo, y en algunas ocasiones, puedes escuchar noticias de su actividad, como las fumarolas que en ocasiones muestra, alguna exhalación de cenizas o en situaciones muy raras, alguna actividad incandescente. El volcán Popocatpetl también se le conoce como "Don Goyo".
El volcán Iztaccihuatl, a diferencia del Popocatpetl, permanece inactivo y desde lejos, parece una mujer durmiendo, es por eso que se le conoce como "Mujer Dormida".
En invierno, los volcanes se llenan de nieve en la punta y si se es afortunado y el clima lo permite, se puede admirar este raro evento desde la ciudad de México. Yo pude verlos la semana pasada y tome algunas fotografías con mi cámara. No es muy común ver los volcanes, ya que la contaminación es tan densa, que no nos deja admirar estas bellezas de la naturaleza.

"Popocatpetl" fue un valiente guerrero, el cual estaba enamorado de una hermosa princesa llamada "Iztaccihuatl". Ella era la mujer más hermosa de la región y fue por eso que la eligieron para sacrificio, sin embargo, Popocatpetl la amaba y no permitiría el sacrificio. En un momento de distracción, Popocatpetl corrió con ella lejos del palacio principal, cuando una flecha hirió a la princesa tirandola al suelo, el guerrero la tomo en sus brazos y continúo huyendo al bosque.
Cuando estuvieron seguros, el guerrero coloco a su amada en el campo y le prometió que el cuidaría de ella por siempre.
El tiempo ha pasado, y el guerrero continúa esperando a que su princesa despierte de su sueño eterno.
