A few weeks ago, we traveled to Cozumel in order to have a look around at our wedding venue and figure out how to set up the decoration. Indeed, we tasted some of the available menu dishes and weeding cake flavours.
Hace algunas semanas, viajamos a Cozumel para conocer mejor el lugar donde se llevara a cabo nuestra boda y saber como decorar el lugar. De hecho, probamos algunos de los platos del menú disponible y los sabores del pastel de boda.
A few weeks ago, we traveled to Cozumel in order to have a look around at our wedding venue and figure out how to set up the decoration. Indeed, we tasted some of the available menu dishes and weeding cake flavours.
Our journey started in August the 25th 2012, when we took off from Mexico City to Cancun, it was a quiet and smooth fligth with Volaris Airlines.
Landing at 13:30 hrs. in Cancun's International Airport we were with a warm and sunny weather, thus, we left the airport to board our transportation to Playa del Carmen. The commute took us 1 hour, so, we arrived roughly at 14:45 hrs. at least to go on board the ferry to Cozumel, that were set to sail at 15:30 hrs.
At 15:45 hrs, the ferry was leaving the dock to do its regular route to Cozumel, unfortunately, due to the bad weather and headwind, that took my hat out of my head, we checked in Cozumel's Dockland pretty near 16:55 hrs. and move to our accommodation at Melia.
After a long journey we took a shower and then met with our wedding planner at the hotel's living room to discuss how to decorate the wedding venue, what kind of centrepieces we want to use, illumination and so on. After a few hours of a big debate, my fiancé and I were starving, so that, we asked Yozelin (our wedding planner) for a tasty place to have dinner, so, she recommend Prima Trattoria that is a rooftop restaurant, indeed, she gave us a lift there.
The venue was as expected at the top of a building and to get in you can use either the staircase or the main lift. We decided to use the lift to go upwards, after a few seconds the lift's doors opened and there was a host waiting for us, we followed him along the restaurant through our table, the place seemed to be a quite perfect place to spend some time having dinner with my fiancé, and it was, we enjoyed the nite amid of tasty dishes, wine cups, some laughs and a nice conversation. A few hours later, we left the restaurant with a sense of pleasure in our souls.
The next morning I woke up at 4:45 hrs. to run, so, I wore my usual running gear and go downstairs to the hotel's garden to warm-up before start. After 15 minutes, I started with my training along Rafael A. Melgar Avenue. It was just me and the stars and the sunshine barely visible, I could feel the wind along my body and hear the birds singing. I felt quite good that day, too light, too fast, too mighty, all what I heard was right, at sea level you can run faster and breath better, thus, that day I crushed 10.4 K in just over 54 minutes breaking one of my Personal Best in that time.
Back into my room, I took a shower and waited for my fiancé to move out to Cozumel centre and look for some sea stars that we need as decoration for our wedding. When we arrived, never did we reckon that most of the shopping venues would be closed, asking to some blokes, they commented that due to Sundays are low demand days, shops are open later, thus, we decided to rent a car for a day and explore Cozumel's surroundings, that, by the way, are enclosed by coral reefs. Indeed, most of the beaches are rocky places to practice snorkel or scuba diving, there are just few to swim but its beauty is astonishing, its turquoise colour followed by white sand beaches and a warm wind is what we call paradise.
When we returned to Cozumel's City Centre, there were more shopping stores opened, so we asked the price for sea stars in big size and we got a quite good bargain for just $80 pesos each one.
Later that day, we went to meet the place where we will sail to our wedding venue before returning to our accommodation, so, we drove along a trail amid of a mangrove swamp unto a place that seemed to be a very small dockland, where sweet water from the swamp mixes with the ocean. There were a few rowing-boats tied to the shore and some people playing around with their lads, we walked around and then proceeded to the hotel to swim on the pool.
The next day, we had to meet with Yozelin close to the City Centre, so, we returned the hired car and meet with her to go to the place where our wedding is going to be celebrated.
After a few minutes of driving and sailing along a lagoon we landed on "La Isla de la Pasion", there, Yozelin showed the island and venues where the religious celebration and the party will take part. Indeed, we taste the menu dishes and wedding's cake flavours. After all that, we were taken to the wedding's cottage where we are going to spend the night after the celebration like Ixchel did centuries ago.
Some hours later, Yozelin took us to our hotel where we spent some hours at the pool and then at our private jacuzzi before bedtime.
Was tuesday in the morning when we woke up in order to set up our luggage to return to Mexico City. The weather was cloudy and rainy and we had to be at Cozumel's Dockland around 11:00 hrs, thus, we took a cab and waited the Ferry to arrive when it started to rain, due to the weather, our transportation was tied to the dock nearly at 11:30 hrs, arriving 30 minutes late. Fortunately, we were widely on time to take the shuttle to the airport.
In spite of the rain, we arrived quite fast to Playa del Carmen's Dockland because we were moving downwind.
At "Playa del Carmen" the weather was different, it was sunny and quite warm, so, we move to the shuttle stop to leave our luggage while having breakfast and taking a look around the city not until 18 hrs, that is when the shuttle will have arrived.
It was 18:15 when our transportation arrived, in such a way, we took our luggage and get on the bus to commute to Cancun's International Airport.
After 1 hour of commuting we were at the airport and waited the check in of our fight. Meanwhile, I went to look for something to eat when I found a Johnny Rockets venue, as follows, I bought 2 hamburgers with french fries and soda, when I returned with my fiancé and boarded on the plane.
Our flight lifted off at 19:30 hrs. as scheduled, narrowly arriving at Mexico's City Airport at 22:30 hrs. and then ending with our journey
Whether you can realise, we are close to our wedding date, we are quite stressed and excited, we hope that everything turns on well.

Hace algunas semanas, viajamos a Cozumel para conocer mejor el lugar donde se llevara a cabo nuestra boda y saber como decorar el lugar. De hecho, probamos algunos de los platos del menú disponible y los sabores del pastel de boda.
Nuestro viaje comenzó en 25 de agosto de 2012, cuando salimos de la ciudad de México a Cancún, fue un vuelo silencioso y suave con Volaris.
Aterrizamos a las 13:30 hrs. en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún y nos encontramos con un clima cálido y soleado, por lo tanto, nos fuimos del aeropuerto para abordar nuestro transporte a Playa del Carmen. El viaje nos llevo mas o menos 1 hora, por lo tanto, llegamos aproximadamente a las 14:45 hrs. por lo menos para ir a bordo del ferri a Cozumel que zarpaba a las 15:30 hrs.
A las 15:45 hrs., el ferri salía del muelle para dirigirse a Cozumel, por desgracia, debido al mal tiempo y viento en contra, el cual me arrebato el sombrero de la cabeza, llegamos al muelle de Cozumel alrededor de las 16:55 hrs. e ir a nuestro alojamiento en el Meliá.
Después de un largo viaje tomamos una ducha para después reunirnos con nuestra planificadora de la boda en el salón del hotel y discutir la forma en la que se decoraría el lugar, qué tipo de centros de mesa queremos utilizar, la iluminación y así sucesivamente. Después de unas horas de gran debate, mi prometida y yo estábamos hambrientos, por lo que pedimos Yozelin (nuestra planificadora) nos recomendara un lugar con deliciosa comida para cenar, por lo cual, ella nos recomienda Prima Trattoria que es un restaurante en la azotea, de hecho, ella nos llevo allí.
El lugar estaba como se esperaba, en la parte superior de un edificio y para llegar puede utilizar las escaleras o el ascensor principal. Decidimos utilizar el elevador para ir hacia arriba, después de que abrieron las puertas del ascensor, a los pocos segundos, un camarero estaba esperando por nosotros, le seguimos a lo largo del restaurante hasta nuestra mesa, el lugar parecía perfecto para cenar con mi novia, y así lo fue, disfrutamos de la noche en medio de sabrosos platillos, copas de vino, algunas risas y una conversación agradable. Unas horas más tarde, salimos del restaurante con una sensación de placer en nuestras almas.
A la mañana siguiente me desperté a las 4:45 hrs. para correr, por lo tanto, use mi equipo habitual para correr y baje al jardín del hotel para calentar antes de comenzar. Después de 15 minutos, comencé con mi carrera a lo largo de la Avenida Rafael A. Melgar. Solo estábamos las estrellas y yo y el sol apenas visible, pude sentir el viento a lo largo de mi cuerpo y escuchar el canto de los pájaros. Me sentí muy bien ese día, demasiado rápido, demasiado poderoso, todo lo que oí era fue correcto, puede correr más rápido el nivel del mar y respirar mejor, por lo tanto, ese día aplaste 10.4 K en poco más de 54 min, rompiendo uno de mis mejores marcas personales en ese momento.
De regreso en mi habitación, tomé una ducha y esperé a mi novia para ir al centro de Cozumel y buscar algunas estrellas de mar que necesitamos como decoración para nuestra boda. Cuando llegamos, nunca nos imaginamos que la mayoría de los lugares de compras estarían cerrados, preguntando a algunas personas, nos comentaron que debido a que los domingos son días de baja demanda, las tiendas estarían abiertas más tarde, por lo tanto, decidimos alquilar un coche por un día y explorar los alrededores de Cozumel, que, por cierto, están rodeados por arrecifes de coral. De hecho, la mayoría de las playas son lugares rocosos para hacer snorkel y practicar buceo, hay pocas para nadar pero su belleza es sorprendente, su color turquesa seguido de playas con arena blanca y un viento cálido es lo que llamamos paraíso.
Cuando regresamos al centro de la ciudad de Cozumel, había más tiendas abiertas, por lo que preguntamos el precio de las estrellas de mar en tamaño grande y conseguimos una muy buena oferta por solo $80 pesos cada una.
Más tarde ese día, fuimos a conocer el lugar donde navegaremos a nuestro ligar de la boda antes de volver a nuestro alojamiento, por lo tanto, condujimos a lo largo de un sendero en medio de un manglar hasta un lugar que parecía ser una muy pequeña zona de muelles, donde el agua dulce de la ciénaga se mezcla con el océano. Había algunos botes de remos atados a la orilla y algunas personas jugando con sus niños, caminamos por los alrededores y después nos retiramos al hotel para nadar en la piscina.
Al día siguiente, teníamos que reunirnos con Yozelin cerca del centro de la ciudad, por lo tanto, regresamos el coche alquilado y nos juntamos con ella para ir al lugar donde nuestra boda se celebrará.
Tras unos minutos de conducción y navegando a lo largo de una laguna desembarcamos en La Isla de la pasión, allí, Yozelin nos mostro la isla y los lugares donde la celebración religiosa y la fiesta tomará parte. De hecho, probamos los platillos del menú y los sabores del pastel de bodas. Después de todo eso, nos llevaron a la cabaña de bodas donde vamos a pasar la noche después de la celebración como Ixchel hizo hace siglos.
Algunas horas más tarde, Yozelin nos llevó a nuestro hotel donde pasamos unas horas en la piscina y luego en nuestro jacuzzi privado antes de acostarnos.
Fue el martes por la mañana cuando preparábamos nuestro equipaje para regresar a la Ciudad de México. El clima estuvo nublado y lluvioso y teníamos que estar en el Puerto de Cozumel alrededor de las 11:00 horas, por lo tanto, tomamos un taxi y esperamos al Ferri cuando de momento comenzó a llover, debido al clima, nuestro transporte fue atado al muelle casi a las 11:30 horas, 30 minutos tarde, afortunadamente, teníamos tiempo de sobra para coger el shuttle al aeropuerto.
A pesar de la lluvia, llegamos bastante rápido al muelle de Playa del Carmen ya que nos movimos a favor del viento.
En Playa del Carmen, el clima era diferente, estaba soleado y muy cálido, por lo que pasamos a la parada de transporte a dejar nuestro equipaje mientras desayunábamos y visitábamos los alrededores de la ciudad, hasta las 18:00 horas, que es cuando el transbordador habrá llegado.
Fue a las 18:15 cuando llegó nuestro transporte, de tal manera, tomamos nuestro equipaje y nos subimos en el autobús para ir al Aeropuerto de Cancún.
En el aeropuerto, esperamos a que nuestro vuelo llegara. Mientras tanto, fui a buscar algo comer cuando encontré un Johnny Rockets, así que, compré 2 hamburguesas con papas fritas y soda, cuando volví con mi prometida, nos subimos al avión.
Nuestro vuelo despegó a las 19:30 hrs. como estaba previsto, llegamos al Aeropuerto de la Ciudad de México muy cerca de las 22:30 hrs. terminando así con nuestro viaje.
Si usted puede darse cuenta, estamos cerca de nuestra fecha de la boda, nosotros estamos bastante emocionados y estresados, esperamos que todo salga bien.
